Swaling on Woodlands Hill just below Dowsborough Fort. Swaling is a heathland management technique whereby ‘old’ heath is burned to reduce the gorse, saplings, woody heather etc. to allow regeneration of the heathland. The work is managed by the Quantock Hills AONB Service with the assistance of volunteers. This picture (taken at 12.05 hrs) is the first of a series of four (see GG0002 to GG0005)
