Butterfly Combe (as it has been called locally for many years), also known as Tannery Combe, Hayman’s Combe (after the owner of Combe House when it was a tannery) and, more recently, Holford Combe.
Looking in a southerly direction, away from Holford this picture clearly shows the ‘bumps’ (lower right) which this open area is called by local residents. This view is no longer possible due to considerable tree growth.
