Glatting, or hunting for conger eels (glatts) took place at Kilve beach for many years until the 1930’s. Dogs were trained to find the eels but would not attack them as they had a powerful bite. Clearly it was also a social event. The hunters are believed to be (from the left) George Coles, unknown, Captain Ann, Alfred Brooks, Wally Coles, Frank Stevens, unknown, Fred (or possibly Alfie) Thorne and Mr Crosby.
